01Why website prices vary so much

Ask five providers in Warsaw for a quote and you may get 800, 3 000, 7 000 and 20 000 PLN for what sounds like "the same website". They are not the same. The price depends on three things: how much is designed from scratch, how much functionality you need (forms, booking, payments, languages, integrations) and who does the work — a solo freelancer, a small studio or a larger agency.

All figures below are net prices in PLN; Polish VAT of 23% is added on top if you buy as a business. They are market ranges collected from Polish price guides published in 2025–2026, not one company's price list.

02Price ranges for 2026: from template to online store

Template site1 page, ready-made theme, your textsfrom a few hundred PLN2–7 days

Store on SaaS (e.g. Shoper)Setup, template, payments1 800–11 000 PLN2–6 weeks
Custom online storeOwn design, integrations, WooCommerce/Magento9 500–65 000 PLN2–4 months

Where do these numbers come from? Orange's 2026 business guide puts a landing page at 2 500–4 500 PLN with an agency and from 1 500 PLN with a freelancer, and a classic 5–8 page company site at 4 500–9 000 PLN. Oferteo's June 2026 data shows an average company website at around 7 000 PLN in Warsaw versus 5 000–6 500 PLN in Lublin, Łódź or Kraków. For stores, CenaUsług lists Shoper deployments at 1 800–11 000 PLN, WooCommerce at about 9 500 PLN and Magento 2 at 36 000–65 000 PLN.

03Freelancer vs studio vs agency

  • Freelancer — cheapest (landing pages from ~1 500 PLN), flexible, but usually one person does design, code and SEO. Check their portfolio and who will maintain the site if they get busy.
  • Small studio — design, development and project management in one team, fixed packages, predictable timelines. Typically mid-range prices.
  • Larger agency or software house — makes sense for stores with complex integrations, high traffic or custom web apps. Expect 15 000 PLN and up.

Whoever you choose, ask what exactly is in the price: number of pages, design rounds, who writes the texts, mobile versions, SEO setup, training and post-launch support.

04Hidden and ongoing costs you should plan for

The quote covers building the site. Running it costs money every year — and this is where cheap offers often surprise people.

  • Domain — a .pl domain is often cheap in year one (OVHcloud: about 17 PLN net) but renews at around 59 PLN net a year. Always check the renewal price.
  • Hosting and SSL — together with the domain usually 600–1 000 PLN a year for a business site, according to Orange. A basic SSL certificate is often included free with hosting.
  • SaaS store subscription — Shoper plans run about 35–499 PLN a month, plus payment fees of roughly 1–1.5% per order.
  • Paid themes and plugins — premium WordPress themes, form, backup or SEO plugins are often annual licences.
  • Maintenance — updates, backups and fixes. Developer time in Poland costs about 200–300 PLN per hour, so a monthly care plan is often cheaper than ad-hoc fixes.
  • Content — copywriting, photos and translations are frequently excluded from the quote.

One more cost that matters for stores: since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act requires many e-commerce services to be accessible. Micro-enterprises providing services are exempt, but if you are growing, it is cheaper to design for accessibility from day one than to rebuild later.

05When a cheap template site is enough — and when it is not

A template site is a perfectly reasonable start if you need to exist online quickly: a new sole proprietorship, a local service, a portfolio or a page you mainly link from Instagram or Google Maps. You get a clean, mobile-friendly page with your logo, texts and contacts — and you can upgrade later.

It stops being enough when the website has to sell on its own: you run paid ads and need conversions, you compete with established brands, you need several languages for Polish and international clients, or you want SEO traffic from many service pages. Then a custom structure, copy and design pay back faster than they cost.

  • Define the goal Leads, sales, credibility for investors or just a contact card? The goal decides the type of site.
  • List the must-haves Pages, languages, forms, booking, payments, integrations with CRM or accounting.
  • Prepare content Texts, photos and logo. Missing content is the most common reason for delays and extra cost.
  • Compare quotes like for like Same scope, same number of pages and revisions, with support and ongoing costs written down.

06Common mistakes when ordering a website

  • Choosing on price alone and paying twice when the site has to be rebuilt a year later.
  • Registering the domain on the developer's account instead of your own company.
  • No CMS access or training, so every small text change becomes a paid ticket.
  • Ignoring mobile: most visitors will see your site on a phone first.
  • Forgetting about the privacy policy and cookie banner required under GDPR.
